I’ve used (or gone through) many irons. The last iron I purchased was a Rowenta and although I love it, it is rather large. I thought a smaller, more compact and lightweight iron would be the perfect companion to my sewing machine.
I also thought it might that the Mini Project Iron from Oliso might be the perfect iron for someone just learning to sew – maybe that’s you?!

My Experience
I was provided a Mini Project Iron by Oliso.
The Cons
I used the iron on various fabrics. It’s definitely not the iron you want to use if you have a lot of pressing to do.
It’s also not a replacement for a full size steam iron.
I had a difficult time using the steam function. It’s definitely not for someone with a weak grip. I reported this issue to Oliso and they were very responsive. And even admitted that you have to squeeze really, really hard to get the steam to work.
In fact, they are aware of the issue and plan to make improvements to the next version of the Mini Project Iron.
The Pros
Having said that, I do think the Mini Project Iron is the perfect little companion to your sewing machine.
It’s compact size makes it great for using right beside your sewing machine for all those quick presses of seams while you’re sewing.
And I do love the Solemate trivet. One side of the Solemate is perfect for resting your hot iron on, while the other side is perfect for storing your iron. It even has a convenient hook or loop that makes it perfect for hanging for storage.
I also like that it has an 8′ cord that wraps easily around the iron for storage.
I even took the Mini Project Iron recently to a quilting class and it proved to be just perfect for travel use too!
