What is National Sewing Machine Day? It’s a day that is set aside every year on June 13th to celebrate the invention of the sewing machine.
English inventor Thomas Saint obtained a patent for the very first sewing machine design in 1790. However, the first working sewing machine wasn’t actually created until 1804.
Even so, sewing machines weren’t accessible to consumers until 1819.
So, it’s safe to say, that home sewists have been sewing for over 200 years now!
