- Know how to sew a straight stitch.
- And know how to use a seam ripper.

- 1/3 yard fabric, liner fabric
- matching trhead
- (2) 15" pieces ribbon or twine
Tools
- sewing machine
- rotary cutter
- acrylic ruler
- self-healing mat

- fabric marking pen
- seam gauge or ruler
- seam ripper
Instructions
Cuts:
- exterior fabric: cut (1) 6"x11"
- liner fabric: cut (1) 6"x11"
- Fold liner fabric in half, right sides together, so that it measure 6" wide by 5-1/2" high.
- Fold outer fabric in half, right sides together, so that it measures 6" wide by 5-1/2" high.
- Sew down each of the sides of the liner fabric, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave a 2" opening in one of the sides for turning.
- Sew down each of the sides of the exterior fabric, using a 1/4" seam allowance.
- Press the side seams flat (open). This will help with the insertion of the drawstrings.
- Turn exterior fabric right side out. Insert the exterior bag inside the interior bag, line up side seams, and stitch 1/4" from raw edges, reinforcing the beginning and ending of your stitches with a backstitch.
- Turn bags right side out through the opening in the lining.
- Stitch the opening closed.
- Push the lining down into the exterior bag so the fabric pieces are wrong sides together. Press the top seam flat.
- Top stitch 1/2" from top edge of bag.
- Top stitch 3/4" from the 1/2" stitch or 1-1/4" from the top edge.
- Use a seam ripper to open up the side seams between the two rows of top stitching, being careful not to cut through the top stitches. This will be the opening for your drawstrings.
- Take one of the 15" pieces of twine (or whatever you're using for your drawstrings) and insert a safety pin into one end. Close the safety pin. Insert the safety pin into one of the side openings in the bag. Work the pin all the way around the bag through the casing and out the same opening. Knot the ends together.
- Take the other 15" piece of twine and insert a safety pin into one end. Close the safety pin. Insert the safety pin into the other side opening in the bag. Work the pin all the way around the bag through the casing and out the same opening. Knot the ends together.
