Learn about Interwoven by Quiltd Studios. Interwoven is an online quilting and sewing community from Quiltd Studios.
Have you ever thought about joining a sewing circle or maybe a quilt guild, but wasn’t sure if it was right for you? Or maybe you just don’t have time to attend guild meetings or can’t find a group near you?
That was definitely my situation!
My Story
I started searching for online quilt guilds, sewing groups, and anything sewing related after I quit my job and moved to northern Michigan in 2020. I thought it would be fun and informative to join a local quilt guild or sewing circle.
When we moved to northern Michigan I knew everything was quite a drive away. I just didn’t realize that e v e r y t h i n g was quite a drive a way. So I joined a few Facebook quilting and sewing groups. Not the same thing.
I have also participated in some sew alongs and quilting alongs and even several Block of Month programs. Still, not the same thing.
And, truth be told, I even thought about starting my own online sewing and quilting community. Which is kind of what I’ve done with Hooked on Sewing. I want Hooked on Sewing to be your sewing resource.
It’s just missing the accountability and social aspect that you get with an in-person or online sewing or quilting community.
Interwoven by Quiltd Studios
After doing some research, I discovered a brand new online sewing and quilting group called Interwoven. One of the things that attracted me most to Interwoven was the fact that it was brand new. As in 2024 was the inaugural launch and I could be a part of the inaugural group that could conceivably help shape future groups.
I love to learn and I love to share what I learn with others – especially on topics concerning sewing. (I think that’s pretty obvious when you consider that I own and run two blogs – The Birch Cottage where I share all things handmade and Hooked on Sewing where I focus on sewing.)
What is Interwoven by Quiltd Studios?
Interwoven is an online sewing and quilting community. Jessica Rose is the creative behind Quiltd Studios (www.quiltdstudio.com) as well as the community host and lead designer.
Interwoven is a dedicated quilting group just for you. A private space for those who find joy in exploring new quilting and sewing techniques, are looking for connections, fun challenges, and new quilt patterns.
Jessica rose
Jessica’s vision for Interwoven was to reach quilters of all communities and bring them together.
Much like a local quilt guild brings quilters together, Interwoven is an online place that brings quilters – of all quilting levels – together in an online community format.

FAQs
Q: Is Interwoven beginner friendly?
If you have never sewn before, I would say Interwoven may be challenging. It does assume you have some basic skills such as how to operate your sewing machine, how to sew a 1/4″ seam, etc. Although the members and hosts of the community are there to answer any questions and help you along the way.
Q: Is there a membership fee?
Yes. You can pay monthly or save a little money by paying a year in advance.
Q: What will I receive as a member?
There is a new quilt block pattern released each month. The release includes step-by-step instructions and video tutorial. There’s also a sewing pattern that is released each month. And monthly live (Zoom) sewing workshops.
Plus, there’s a private and interactive community where you can post questions, answer questions, share progress photos, and interact with other members.
Q: What have you learned as a member of Interwoven?
So far I have learned how to make two quilt blocks, met numerous quilters/sewists from literally around the world, and have had fun interacting with the members, leaving comments and sharing progress photos.
April 2024 is my second month and there are many more to go!
Below are the first two quilt blocks we learned to piece. On the left is a block called Chroma and the block on the right is called Quirk. The one on the right was very interesting. We actually made two blocks, cut those two blocks in half (a little unnerving), and then stitched them back together to make the Quirk block.
A lot of the members chose solid chromatic colors for their fabrics. I used some fabrics I already had on hand. They certainly make for some interesting blocks. I’ve already learned the importance of keeping my seam ripper handy!
