Frequently Asked Questions
Before we get into the tutorial, let me answer some questions you may have.
Q: What types of fabrics are required?
I do recommend you use a nice weight of fabric, like quilting cotton. You can use other materials besides cotton, like cork, leather, and vinyl – are all fun materials to use. I would, however stay away from stretch fabrics.
Q: Do I have to use interfacing?
You do not have to use interfacing. I find the use of interfacing helps add some stability and heft to the fabric. That stability will come in handy if or when the bookmark is used alot!
Q: Do I have to use three different fabric designs?
No, you do not have to use three different pieces of fabric for your fabric bookmarks. I was simply trying to use up some of my scraps. You do need three pieces of fabric. They can be all the same, two pieces the same, or all different.
Q: What if I have more questions?
If you have more questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below and I’ll be glad to answer them!

Sew a Corner Bookmark
Learn how to make fabric corner bookmarks in this easy sewing tutorial.
Materials
- (3) 4"x4" scraps of cotton fabric
- (3) 4"x4" fusible interfacing
- matching thread
Tools
- rotary cutter
- acrylic ruler
- self-healing cutting mat
- scissors
- pins
- wonder clips
- sewing machine
- point turner
- iron & ironing board
Instructions
- Cut materials. Cut three pieces of matching or contrasting fabrics 4"x4". Cut three pieces of fusible interfacing 4"x4". OPTIONS: You don't have to use interfacing, but I do recommend it. You can select to apply interfacing to one piece of fabric or all three.
- Fuse interfacing to back side of cotton fabric. If only fusing to one piece of fabric, fuse to either the back or front piece of the bookmark (not the corner).
- Fold one piece of fabric wrong sides together to form a triangle. Press.
- Place one piece of fabric with the fused interfacing right side up (this will become the front of the bookmark). Then lay the triangle fabric on top in the top right hand corner. Next you'll place the third piece of fabric right side down on top (this will become the back of the bookmark). Line up all the raw edges and pin or clip in place.
- Sew around all four sides using a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 1-2" opening for turning. Trim corners. Turn right side out. Press.
- Topstitch around the perimeter of the corner bookmark using a long stitch length and about 1/8" from the edge of the fabric.
Notes
