Scissors
There is one thing that I think most (if not all) sewists and quilters can agree on and that is a good, sharp pair of scissors is a must! In fact, I have a different pair of scissors that I use for different mediums, like:
- fabric scissors
- paper scissors
- thread snips
- embroidery scissors
- fabric rotary cutter
- paper rotary cutter
I even have a pair of scissors that I use for tougher jobs like trimming zippers. I definitely don’t want to use my good fabric scissors on a zipper and risk nicking the blade!
Good news! Missouri Star Quilt Company has affordable everyday scissors! I’ve used them and I can highly recommend each and every one!

Missouri Star 6″ Everyday Scissors – Lulla
These 6″ Lulla scissors are just the perfect size to keep handy by my sewing machine. I use them to trim threads, clip seams, cut corners and anytime I need a little pair of scissors.
They also include a protective cover for the scissors and come in a handy reusable package. The scissors, like all the other Missouri Star scissors, have a textured non-slip handle. And these scissors have a little more heft to them than some brands. In other words, they feel really good in your hands!

Missouri Star 4.5″ Everyday Scissors – Elna
The 4.5″ Elna scissors are just slightly smaller than the Lulla. They are perfect for travel, embroidery, crochet, or anytime a small pair of scissors just might come in handy. (You know, like when you make a nest under your fabric and you need something small to get between the fabric and the feed dogs to cut away the nest of threads.)
Just like the 6″ Lulla scissors, the 4.5″ Elna scissors include a protective cover for the scissors blades that just slides on and kind of snaps in place. And it comes in a handy reusable (and cute) package. Plus, they have a textured non-slip handle.
The 4.5″ Everyday Scissors are also perfect for on-the-go sewing and crafting.

Missouri Star 8″ Everyday Scissors – Amelia
The Amelia scissors are perfect for cutting fabric. The 8″ scissors are really well made, super sharp, and have a great feel in the hand. There is nothing flimsy about these scissors or any of the Missouri Star Everyday Scissors!
And just like the Elna and Lulla scissors, the Amelia scissors come with a protective sheath and handy reusable snap-close packaging. I use these scissors for cutting fabric all the time and just love them. I think you will, too!

Rotary Cutters
Just like the Everyday Scissors, MSQC also carries quality rotary cutters. If you are a quilter or interested in learning how to quilt, a good rotary cutter is an absolute must.
You’ll find 28mm, 45mm, and even 60mm rotary cutters and replacement rotary blades. Let’s take a look at each.

Missouri Star 28mm Rotary Cutter – Klara
The innovative rotary cutters from Missouri Star feature a ball-bearing screw design for easy, efficient rolling while minimizing shoulder strain. Even the petite 28mm Rotary Cutter (cutely named Klara), is made to these same standards.
The 28mm rotary cutter is perfect for intricate cutting, like 2″ squares or trimming away dog ears. I keep my 28mm rotary cutter right by my sewing machine so it’s always handy!
And just like the Everyday Scissors, the Klara 28mm Rotary Cutter from Missouri Star comes in a reusable snap-close package.

Missouri Star 45mm Rotary Cutter – Olga
What a perfect name for this workhorse rotary cutter – Olga! This 45mm rotary cutter features a ball bearing screw design with a super sharp blade that allows you to roll right through the thickest layers of fabric!
The Missouri Star 45mm Rotary Cutter aka Olga is my go-to rotary cutter. It has a great feel in the hand and literally just glides through fabric. I use it just about every day and certainly every time I cut fabric.
If you are quilter or would like to learn how to quilt you DEFINITELY NEED THIS ROTARY CUTTER! Again, it comes in a reusable snap-close package.

Missouri Star 60mm Rotary Cutter – Greta
Greta is a 60mm Rotary Cutter from Missouri Star. She is a strong and dependable rotary cutter. Great for cutting through multiple layers of fabric or bulky fabric.
Just like the 28mm and 45mm, the 60mm rotary cutter features a ball bearing screw design with a super sharp blade that absolutely allows you to roll right through the thickest of fabrics.
She has that same great feel in your hand and comes in a reusable snap-close package. I honestly don’t use my 60mm rotary cutter that often, but I have it on hand for anytime I need to cut through multiple layers of fabric.

Missouri Star Mini Rotary Cutter
This mini folding rotary cutter is perfect to tuck in your bag for quilting on the go! The cutter folds to close and features a safety lock. The 28mm blade is great for detail cuts. Plus, it’s super cute!
This mini rotary cutter also makes for a great quilty gift. I’ve even heard of people purchasing them as quilt swag for their quilt guilds or retreats. Keep in mind this is a small (thus the name “mini”) rotary cutter.

Replacement Rotary Blades
You can’t own a rotary cutter, whether it’s the 28mm, 45mm, or the 60mm without also owning replacement blades. Rotary cutter blades should be changed when they start to feel dull (you’ll find you’re having to press down harder while cutting) or when they begin skipping or leaving uncut portions of fabric.
The replacement rotary blades from MSQC are super sharp. Your cuts need to stay sharp and precise, which is why it’s good to have plenty of extra rotary blades.
You’ll find Missouri Star Replacement Blades, including
- 28mm Rotary Replacement Blades
- 45mm Rotary Replacement Blades
- 60mm Rotary Replacement Blades
When I first started sewing (I was only 10), I thought a seam ripper was only used to fix mistakes. But, that simply is not the case! I use my seam ripper all the time! And having a super sharp seam ripper that is easy to grip is key!
Sew, let me introduce you to Frida!
Prior to using my Missouri Star Seam Ripper, the Clover Ergonomic Seam Ripper was my favorite brand. Then I tried Frida. Funny story….
And just like the other Everyday Tools from Missouri Star, the Missouri Star Seam Ripper comes in a snap-close reusable package and includes a sheath that protects the blade.
