FREE Bunny Ears Pattern for a Wooden Teething Ring. Download the free Bunny Ears Pattern and make a Bunny Ears Wooden Teething Ring.
Baby things are adorable, plus they are fun, practical, and usually very easy to make. When I first saw these Wooden Teething Rings with Bunny Ears (like these on Etsy), I just had to see if I could make them.
I drafted a few patterns and finally settled on the one I am sharing with you today.

Wooden Teething Ring with Bunny Ears
Babies love to chew or gum on things and these wooden teething rings are the perfect little teether! The teethers are made from all natural wooden rings and fabric. All baby safe materials.
Supplies Needed
- wooden rings – I used these 60mm (approximately 2-1/4″) wooden rings. Be sure you select wood rings that are food safe, have no chemicals or finishes on the wood. You also don’t want a ring that is super big. Just big enough for little ones to grasp.
- fabric – You can use the same fabric on both sides of the “bunny ears” or two different fabrics. I like to use cotton on one side and minky, flannel, or terry on the other.
- matching thread – A good quality all-purpose thread will provide durability and hold up well to lots of use. I like Gutermann thread.

Tools and Equipment Needed
- scissors
- pins or clips
- bodkin
- sewing machine (I recommend Janome or Brother)
- 90/14 stretch needle (if using fabric with stretch like minky)
- 90/14 universal needle
Sewing Tips
Sew with Minky on the Bottom
When sewing minky with another layer of fabric such as cotton or flannel, put the minky on the bottom, next to the feed dogs. This will allow the feed dogs of your sewing machine to help guide the fabric and prevent extra stretching.
Use a Stretch Needle
If you are using stretch fabrics like minky or cuddle, using a 90/14 stretch needle will help prevent skipped stitches. You can also use a 90/14 universal needle.
Topstitch
Topstitching serves three purposes. One, it closes the opening you left for turning the fabric right side out. Two, it provides stability to the seam. And three, it provides a nice professional looking finish.
Cut Rectangles
Instead of cutting out the two pieces of fabric using the pattern and then sewing the pieces together, try cutting the stretchy fabric out as a 5″x16″ rectangle. This is especially helpful when sewing with stretchy fabrics like fleece.
You’ll still need the pattern to cut out the cotton fabric or to use as a template.

Sew Bunny Ears for Wood Teether
Learn how to sew Bunny Ears to make a Bunny Ears Wood Teething Ring. It takes just a small amount of fabric, some thread, and a wooden ring. Once you make one, you'll want to make one for all the babies!
Materials
- fabric: cotton, minky, terry, or flannel
- matching thread
- wood teething ring
Tools
- scissors
- pins or clips
- sewing machine
- pinking shears (optional)
- bone folder
Instructions
- Download and print the pattern. Be sure you print at 100%. Then cutout the pattern along the outside of the solid line.
- You will cut out two pieces of fabric for the bunny ears. You can use two pieces of the same fabric or two coordinating fabrics. I like to use cotton and flannel or minky. Place the pattern on the cotton fabric along the fold and cut out. If using stretchy fabric like minky or fleece, cut out a 4"x16" rectangle.
- If you are using minky, cuddle or any stretchy fabric, cut out the cotton fabric piece first. Then unfold the cutout cotton bunny ear and place cutout cotton fabric face down on top of the minky fabric. Make sure right sides are together. Pin the two pieces of fabric together.
- Use a slightly longer than normal stitch length (2.5-3.0mm). Using a 1/4" seam allowance, stitch the two pieces together. Be sure to place the minky fabric on the bottom (closest to the feed dogs) and leave a 2-3" opening for turning.
- Clip the curves and trim the seam allowance. If you like, you can use pinking shears to help minimize the bulk in your seam allowance.
- Turn the bunny ears right side out through the opening. Then use a bone folder or other tool to help push out all the seams. Press the bunny ears flat. If using minky or fleece, be sure to press on the cotton side or use a pressing cloth.
- Topstitch 1/8" from the edge all the way around the fabric pieces.
