Meet the creative behind the new Hooked on Sewing blog! Hooked on Sewing is the place to overcome your fear of learning to sew.

Who’s Behind Hooked on Sewing?
Hi, my name is Pam Baker and I am the sewist behind Hooked on Sewing. I began my sewing journey when I was a little girl about 10 years old. My mother was an amazing seamstress who could make something beautiful out of old hand-me-downs.
I used to sit in awe of how she could take a piece of cloth from a woman’s dress or a man’s shirt and turn them into outfits for my sister and me to wear. Finally, when I was about 10 years old, my mom (after lots of begging) decided I was old enough to learn how to sew.
And although there have been periods of time in my life where I didn’t sew, I have always loved sewing and sharing that love of sewing with others. I’ve taught not only my own daughters how to sew, but other children and adults alike.

I’ve also shared patterns and tutorials on my blog The Birch Cottage. You’ll find lots of creative ideas on The Birch Cottage blog. Ideas from family favorite recipes, to handmade gift ideas, craft projects, sewing and crochet patterns, Cricut tutorials, free printables and more!
I love The Birch Cottage and all my fantastic readers. But, I felt like my sewing patterns and tutorials were hidden in all the other content. And I didn’t want to keep it hidden any longer.
I belong to some sewing groups and one of the resounding complaints I hear from beginner or aspiring sewists is the fear they feel behind trying to learn how to sew. I want to help you overcome that fear and replace it with confidence and joy!

What Can I Expect?
You can expect to find sewing basic tutorials, lots of instructional videos in bite-size segments, encouragement and like-minded people to connect with. If you’ll allow me, I’ll take you step-by-step through all the basics. Then we’ll move on together to sewing beginner projects.
You’ll experience one success after the other. And when you struggle, I’ll be here to help guide you. We can do this together!
